# 7 Chennai Flood

There is no positive way of looking at a natural calamity. Loss of lives and damage can be brought down to numbers. But the trauma and despair, too hard to put down in any kind of pie chart.

Such was my belief till recent flooding of Chennai in the torrential rain. The belief has only evolved a bit. Now I know that a tiny bit of positivity can be associated with a terrible disaster and that human beings continue to be a resilient species in spite of their destructive ways of living.

I AM GRATEFUL FOR

The camaraderie that people in Chennai showed during the flood.

The camaraderie that people in Chennai showed during the flood when the whole nation  is on tenterhooks about religious/misogynistic riffraff.

The camaraderie that people in Chennai showed during the flood when the whole nation is on tenterhooks about religious/misogynistic riffraff and to prove that the nation has not come down to such a level of degradation that its citizens consider fleeing it like I did.
